A Plug and Why I Use It
Published on August 22, 2008 By kurtin In Customization Software

While I'm going to be away from my computer for a trip I need to take this weekend, one thing I'm going to miss is the trusty ObjectDock program from Stardock.  I've been using it for so long now it's just become a part of the way I compute.  If you were ever looking to change up your computer's appearance with a little improvement in functionality, try this program out!  There is a free version out there for you to try or a purchased version with even more features to enhance your desktop organization.

Basically, instead of pulling down the start menu to search for your folders, programs, settings, etc., you can place your most commonly used items in a dock so that with a simple "click" you're there!  Download/customize your icons for each individual program, utilize docklets like running clocks, weather indications, and more.  I use the program for not only its functionality, but also the unique visual appearances I can get with my desktop. I'm a guy that can't stand desktop icons cluttering up my display.  Even if they are nicely lined up in an array, my beautiful desktop images will be covered up by a document or a shortcut??!  This will not stand!!  You can stick your program docks on any part of your screen and even activate an auto-hide feature so you won't need to see it when not in use.

I'm in love with the customization features that go into this program and that talented skinners over at WinCustomize take the time to offer styles free for the public.  I can't stand working on PCs without any sort of docking device anymore because it is so useful and such a part of making my computing methods easier and more user friendly.  So this is my small plug to show my appreciation and hopefully direct more users to an amazing feature from the same providers as JU.  Check it out:

OD is absolutely the greatest productivity app ever. Mine is so long that it probably covers atleast 2 full size 1280x1024 desktops
OD+ with tabbed docks / multiple docks per screen is a great solution to the problem of docks with too many icons in them.

no, i like it that way. it looks impressive.
